Entrepreneur and investor, living and working in Houston. Helping small business owners create a legacy.

I’m Daniel Phillips, someone who understands the passion and dedication that go into building something meaningful. My professional journey began in law, but my drive for sustainability led me to an unexpected and transformative chapter. Years ago, I made a shift from legal practice to renewable fuels—starting by making biodiesel in my own garage to power my 1981 VW Rabbit pick-up. That experience ignited my path toward renewable project development and business leadership, and I’ve never looked back.

Since then, I’ve led projects that span renewable energy innovations, from creating low-carbon hydrogen solutions with Air Liquide to launching the U.S. renewable fuels program at Solazyme. Through these experiences, I’ve developed a deep respect for legacy, a commitment to sustainability, and a focus on creating long-term value—principles I bring to every business I’m privileged to work with.

Respect for Legacy
Every company I’ve partnered with has a story, a foundation that deserves to be honored. My approach as a successor isn’t to change what’s working but to nurture and grow it with the same dedication that built it. Respecting the legacy of a business is as important to me as creating new pathways for its future.

Commitment to Sustainability
My journey from making biodiesel in my garage to leading renewable energy initiatives instilled in me the importance of sustainable choices. I believe in creating positive impacts that go beyond immediate returns. Integrating sustainability into business not only benefits our communities but also positions a company for long-term success.

Creating Long-Term Value
I am a builder at heart, focused on more than just financial outcomes. I’ve helped grow revenues and foster partnerships with industry leaders, but value creation, to me, also means strengthening relationships, supporting employees, and enhancing customer loyalty. This focus guides everything I do, ensuring that each business I lead has a foundation for future growth.

If you’re contemplating the future of your company and want a successor who values your work, your people, and your legacy, I’d love to connect. My goal is to honor what you’ve built while propelling it forward with the same passion you poured into it.
